ACI 1 Stage Andersen Cascade Impactor

Impactor 1 Single Stage is one of the configurations of the Andersen Cascade Impactor (6-stage). It is a useful, simple, and convenient method for estimating the concentration of viable airborne microorganisms.

The 1 Single Stage Viable Impactor consists of one sampling stage and contains 400 jet orifices. When air is drawn through the sampler, multiple jets of air direct airborne particles onto the surface of the collection plate.

Description

The 1 Single Stage Viable Impactor requires an exact flow rate of 28.3 L/min for a cut-off size of 0.65 µm, or a higher flow rate if a different cut-off size is required.

A pre-separator can be used to remove the coarse aerosol fraction. Particles are collected directly in a 90 mm diameter Petri dish filled with the most appropriate culture medium.

It is also possible to use a gelatin filter, impaction plates, or any type of support containing an RNA/DNA preservative, for example, to allow sample preservation for virus analysis.

The One Single Stage Viable Impactor is made of stainless steel, a strong and durable material that can withstand the high temperatures of an incubator and aggressive detergents.
